What is Food Transparency?

As the demand for food transparency continues to grow, it is important to understand what the term really means. Simply put, it is the ability for the consumer to see where their food came from. The level at which consumers want to know where their food comes from is an individual preference, but the idea is to have the information available if it is requested. This has become an extremely popular idea as more and more people want to be able to know where their food comes from in order to purchase products that align with the wants and needs. For example, knowing that your chicken was raised without antibiotics or that your steak was grass fed has become essential as people use those details to decide what products they are going to buy. As technologies develop further, more insights will be offered to consumers in greater detail, eventually being able to show every step that your food went through from the farm to your table!
