The History of Agriculture

Agriculture is an ancient practice that has seemingly been around forever. Archeologists found that agriculture was “invented” in an area called the ‘Fertile Crescent’, which was in the area of the modern Middle East. Agricultural practices started 7,000-10,000 years ago as humans shifted from the hunter-gatherer style to farming. With the invention of metal tools, agricultural tools were invented, and by 6,000 BC, most farm animals had been domesticated. It is believed that his shift was made due to increasing population and possible climate change. Farming led to population growth and to the development of other careers, as men did no longer have to hunt for their families and could pursue other interests. Agriculture changed the course of history for human beings, and has had many impactful consequences on our world!
